There is also a black and white printable version here.

One of the great things about the National Poetry Competition is there is no set theme for poems, but this can also be daunting. We hope that these prompts will allow you to explore different areas of your work and help you produce something great for the competition, and learn a little about your own writing process along the way.

If you need any help using our entry website or have any queries at all about making an entry, you can contact support@poetrysociety.org.uk and we’ll be happy to assist.

Best of luck in the National Poetry Competition! We look forward to receiving your poems.

Best wishes,
